Actually, the Federation representatives yesterday at the press conference, said that in 23 counties missing pediatricians, Xanthi there are only a radiologist and a dentist, while in Corfu there is none, nor in RPHL nor affiliated with EOPYY.

At the same time the Units of First National Health Network asked, as they said, to bear the burden of primary care for the 2.5 million uninsured citizens and the thousands of refugees in Greece. “The world is changing, the needs become huge and public funding remains the lowest in the EU,” said the president of the Federation, Panagiotis Psycharis according to the Athens Press Agency.

Today, the system is served by 2,200 doctors and no by 5500 as a few years ago in EOPPY’s polyclinics, 300 have retired, while the implementation of the Law 4238, when the minister was Adonis Georgiadis. As they said, 3,000 doctors were fired, 40% of the units were closed and from 350 units now 220 are currently operating.

The Federation representatives also expressed their opposition to the plan for the primary health care system (neighborhood clinics), prepared by the Ministry, speaking of “backwardness” and for projects that do not fit in the scientific tradition of our country and much more to the needs of the population.
