The Representatives of the European Parliament’s and specifically from Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, which visited the Central Bank of Greece, led by Commission President Mr Roberto Gkoualtieri, had a meeting yesterday with the commander of the Bank, Mr Yannis Stournaras and members of the Board.
The Members of the European Parliament informed of the Greek economy and its prospects in the light of the negotiations with the institutions and the forthcoming assessment of the economy.
Members of the Committee also informed about the state of the banking system, especially for non-performing loans and the solutions proposed by Mr Stournaras on this subject.
For its part, the Bank of Greece stressed the great importance that will have a positive evaluation and the opportunities created by the country’s participation in the quantitative easing program by the European Central Bank, by stimulating market liquidity and boosting growth.
Particular reference was made, finally, for the effects it will have on the economy, the large number of refugees and immigrants that have arisen or may arise, effects that cannot even be calculated for now.
